Modest Elite Field Set for Sold‑Out SBT GRVL in Steamboat Springs
The renowned SBT GRVL event returns June 26–28 with a star‑studded professional lineup, new course features, and a full weekend of gravel celebration in Colorado’s Routt County.
Steamboat Springs gears up for one of gravel cycling’s premier events as SBT GRVL, presented by Wahoo, returns to Colorado from June 26 to 28. Building on its reputation as both a destination festival and high‑caliber race, the 2026 edition is sold out but still offers plenty for fans and local participants to enjoy over three days of racing, riding, entertainment, and community programming.
The event kicks off Friday evening with a reimagined ‘Friday Night MTN CLMB’, powered by Ventum, where pros and amateurs alike will compete in head‑to‑head prologue sprints. A family‑friendly costume lap and live music set the tone for the weekend. Saturday continues with festival programming downtown, including an expo featuring more than 80 vendors, yoga sessions, kids’ activities and a new running event—the SBT TRL running race—with proceeds benefiting local nonprofits.
Sunday brings the highlight: a packed pro gravel race over a new 108‑mile ‘Black Course’, featuring scenic Champagne gravel roads and entirely fresh segments through Routt County ranchland. Elite men and women will start early, riding under rolling safety enclosures. The prize purse, evenly split between the elite categories, totals $22,000. The course is complemented by several other route options—Blue, Red and Green—for amateurs and enthusiasts.
Competition this year promises to be fierce. The women’s field includes past SBT GRVL champions such as Sofía Gómez Villafañe, Melisa Rollins, Lauren Stephens and Lauren De Crescenzo, alongside top contenders like Tiffany Cromwell, Cecily Decker, Cécile Lejeune, Alexis Skarda, and IRONMAN World Champion Chelsea Sodaro. The men’s race is no less stacked, featuring three‑time SBT GRVL winner Keegan Swenson, defending champion Brennan Wertz, plus riders like Cobe Freeburn, Simon Pellaud, Adam Roberge, Peter Stetina, and Alexey Vermeulen.
Beyond the race itself, SBT GRVL remains a true cycling celebration. From evening sprints and live music to family rides, local expos, and the new trail running event, the weekend offers something for every rider and fan. It underscores the community‑driven, inclusive spirit that has made the gravel‑cycling festival a staple of the summer cycling calendar.
